Athlete of the Month 2026
Austin Youth Fitness Athlete of the Month is a showcase of the talented young people in our community. The power and spirit of our youth is limitless, and AYF thinks it's important to let other young athletes know what their peers are doing in the fitness community.
Congratulations to the following AYF Athletes of the Month!
May Athlete of the Month

Henry is AYF's May Athlete of the Month! We nominated Henry because "Henry always brings the energy to camp! He sparks up conversation with coaches and other kids, always making others feel welcome and included. Henry plays hard, but in a way that is sportsmanlike and encouraging to others. He has attended camps for two years, and when I see Henry's name on the roster, I know it's going to be a fun camp!"
Outside of AYF, Henry has been playing soccer for several years and just wrapped up his latest season with Lonestar Soccer. He loves basketball with his friends, golfing, and is planning to join a hockey league later this year. When he is not on the field or the ice, he practically lives on his bike with his best buddies from the neighborhood!
Henry's favorite thing about AYF camps is spending the day with his school and neighborhood friends, and of course the treats coaches hand out at the end of a long day of riding. At school he loves playing soccer and basketball at recess, and his favorite teachers are Ms. Allison and Ms. Cindy. When he grows up, Henry wants to be a professional hockey or basketball player.
Off the field, Henry attends an international school and is fluent in both Spanish and French. He also loves volunteering to clean up parks around Austin.
Way to go, Henry! We are so glad to have you at AYF!
April Athlete of the Month

Siena is AYF's April Athlete of the Month, and it is easy to see why.
Coach Micallie said it perfectly when she nominated her: "Siena immediately came to mind for athlete of the month for her consistency, effort, and grounded attitude. Riding with Siena is a joy and I'm always impressed with her skill and strength on the bike, especially through the steep climbs of Barton Hills! She is someone who I can rely on and when a friend needs help, she's the first to be there or let me know. Her grit and thoughtfulness make her an excellent athlete and friend at AYF."
This spring Siena completed the 2026 Kids Triathlon and AYF Track and Field Day, and typically logs 10 to 20 miles on the bike each week. She is even getting a Strava account to track those miles! Her favorite things about AYF biking club are the destinations they explore and the athlete of the day stickers, because hard work deserves recognition.
Outside of AYF, she recently took up swimming, loves after school cooking classes, and has started a sushi club with her friends, with a book club next on her list!
At school, Siena loves music and art. Away from school and the bike, she is an avid reader, loves helping younger kids, and regularly volunteers to clean up the greenbelt on weekly hikes.
When she grows up, she wants to be a veterinarian!
Way to go, Siena! We are so lucky to have you at AYF!
March Athlete of the Month

Katsuya, known to his friends as KC, is AYF's March Athlete of the Month. KC came to beginner biking never having ridden a bike before.
His coach Ruth nominated him because "He always knew how to ask for help. He knew how to advocate for himself and receive feedback and coaching. Once he learned how to bike, he unlocked a whole lot of energy and enthusiasm for riding! Suddenly he wanted to bike the entire hour and a half session and was always eager and excited to try new things, such as visiting the skate park, exploring the trails, and crossing the creek. He grew to love biking and adventuring!"
It's now a family tradition to bring KC's bike wherever they go! Outside of AYF, he plays competitive soccer on the Pflugerville FC Academy 18B White team and has his eye on picking up golf next. His favorite thing about biking club is "I love that we bike a lot around Mueller!" and at school he loves lunch and playing soccer at break. When he grows up: "I want to be a basketball player and biker and soccer player." We love the ambition, KC!
Off the bike, KC excels in all his classes, especially math and art, and his teacher has praised him for consistently helping his classmates.
Way to go, KC! We can't wait to see where the trails take you next!
February Athlete of the Month

Although she’s the youngest rider in our Govalle Biking Club, Kick leads in a big way.
Nominated by Coach Alli, Kick was recognized for her strength, skill, and the spark she brings to every ride.
“She is a strong and skilled biker, a great friend and teammate, and the spark that ignites the group to ride hard and have fun!”
Kick crushed 16 laps at her school Turkey Trot and has logged plenty of miles riding with her family.
She has also played soccer and volleyball and plans to join a climbing team next because she truly loves to move.
She loves riding with friends, learning Spanish at school, volunteering with Amigos de Parque Zaragoza, and dreams of becoming a dolphin trainer or working at Yellow Bike one day.
Kick embodies grit, joy, and leadership, and we are so proud to have her in AYF. 🚴♀️💙

We’re proud to recognize Elizabeth as our January Athlete of the Month! A core member of our Northwest Biking Club, Elizabeth brings strong biking skills, positive energy, and a cool confidence to every ride. Off the bike, Elizabeth is in her third year of ballet with Ballet Austin, excels in math, and dreams of becoming an architectural engineer. We’re so proud to have Elizabeth on our AYF squad and grateful for the joy she brings to our community.
