Athlete of the Month 2025
Austin Youth Fitness Athlete of the Month is a showcase of the talented young people in our community. The power and spirit of our youth is limitless, and AYF thinks it's important to let other young athletes know what their peers are doing in the fitness community.
Congratulations to the following AYF Athletes of the Month!
April Athletes of the Month!

Our April athletes of the month are our amazing interns Micallie & Yanna! They joined us this spring to help us behind the scenes and coach clubs and camps. They put in the leg work to make Track & Field Day such a big success! We're so lucky they chose to work with AYF for their senior internship and can't wait to see what they do post-grad!
About Micallie
Some of Micallie's favorite memories and recent fitness accomplishments are running a marathon, a 200 mile relay to Houston, doing 8 pull-ups, and snowboarding down a black this year!
She is an officer for the run club at UT Austin where she helps lead workouts, races, and mobility routines. Aside from running, she dabbles in different sports, most recently enjoying yoga, bouldering, weightlifting, brazilian jiu jitsu, and hopefully soon to join @velorosa.bc for some bike rides!
Micallie's favorite thing about AYF is the people—from the kids to the coaches. "It is so special getting close to a group of kids getting to provide a safe and fun space. I love helping them have fun but also being someone they can confide in and come to with their fun interests and questions."
Micallie is a senior at UT Austin with a minor in Exercise Science and intends to continue her education through a masters program in kinesiology. "My hope in my career is to find a specific avenue that best fits my strengths and weaknesses to enrich myself and others. I hope to have fun in my experiences but feel passionate about contributing effort and finding ways to improve upon the positions I find myself in."
About Yanna
In Yanna's free time, she plays on a lot of intramural teams. She's been on a coed flag football team, women’s flag team, coed basketball team and a coed volleyball team. Out of all the sports, she is the most passionate about volleyball since she has played her entire life.
Yanna's favorite thing about AYF is seeing how the passionate the kids are to run and try new things. She coached running clubs at NYOS & Brentwood and said "those kids are such a joy to run with."
Yanna is a graduating senior at UT Austin and is getting her degree in Exercise Science. She aspires to become a pediatric physical therapist and wants to continue to encourage kids to keep moving their bodies!
Thank you Micallie & Yanna for your hard work and support this spring!
March Athletes of the Month!

Davis and George are the reason we have the Mueller biking club! They participated in our summer camps, loved it, and then their family reached out to get a club started in their neighborhood. They were nominated by their coach because "Davis and George are enthusiastic athletes and you can always count on them to bring playful energy to biking club. They start games during breaks on the ride, making sure to include the whole team. Davis and George always bring the FUN!"
In addition to biking with AYF, George plays baseball, basketball, flag football and soccer. This past season, his basketball team was undeafeated! He also loves to sing and play the piano and he is in his school's choir. George loves all things NYC (where he was born), especially the Mets & the Nets.
In addition to biking with AYF, Davis plays baseball, soccer and basketball. He also loves art and Pokemon. Davis loves animals, especially his dog Phife and his new kitten Frankie!
Davis and George's favorite thing about school is the same: getting to play with friends! When George grows up, he wants to be an NFL player, and when Davis grows up, he wants to be a zookeeper.
George loves AYF because "the coaches are all really nice", and Davis says he loves "making new friends!"
Way to go George & Davis Ritchie for being AYF's March Athletes of the Month!
February Athlete of the Month!

Avery participates in AYF's running club at Forest Trail Elementary. She was nominated by her coach because "Avery comes to every running club with a big smile on her face. She compliments everyone, always wants to help and only has positive things to say. One of her biggest attributes is that she is considerate. She is always watching and helping another child in the group. She goes out of her way to include this child and makes sure they are playing and having fun."
In addition to running with AYF, Avery is finishing her 4th season of basketball and has goals to learn tennis and martial arts. This past Thanksgiving, Avery did her first 5K. What a milestone!
Avery's favorite things about school are PE, numbers/math and art. When she grows up, she wants to be a dentist or engineer.
Avery loves AYF running club because of "the fun atmosphere and coaches!"
Way to go Avery Taylor for being AYF's February Athlete of the Month!
January Athletes of the Month!

Ben and JJ have been participating in AYF camps and clubs since 2022! They were nominated by their coaches because "Ben and JJ are rays of light! They are friends to everyone they meet and never fail to make someone feel right at home. They are hard workers and always up for a challenge. Their excitement for running and biking is infectious and unwavering! We love Ben & JJ!"
Ben and JJ love AYF bike and running clubs, golf, swimming for the Westwood Waves, and both recently started water polo!
Their favorite things about AYF are the coaches, new friendships, and exploring Austin's best spots during Cycle the City!
Ben's favorite things about school are learning, being part of the Casis Times, and seeing his friends. JJ is excited for new after school clubs, and how his teachers make learning so exciting.
When they grow up, JJ wants to be the President or a professional golfer, and Ben wants to be a doctor.
Way to go Ben & JJ Wilson for being AYF's January Athlete of the Month!
